At Northern Star Boudoir, we keep our prerequisites simple: show up as you are. (Well… we would also like to get paid. God, please pay us. We’ll get back to that later.)
What we can guarantee with complete confidence is this: in this very moment, you are enough. More than enough. You deserve an experience that strengthens the way you see yourself and honors the story your body carries. People book boudoir sessions for countless reasons — and no, it’s not just the movie‑trope gift. Some come to celebrate personal victories. Some come to reclaim confidence after difficult chapters. Some come because they grew up in environments where self‑acceptance wasn’t encouraged. And all of us, every day, are surrounded by unrealistic standards of beauty that can chip away at how we feel.
We’re not therapists, but we do believe that safe, intentional moments in the studio can be quietly healing. Whether your reasons are simple or layered, we want to hear your story. The fact that each one is different reminds us that every person is uniquely, undeniably special — and that alone is worth celebrating.
Because boudoir is a deeply personal experience, we prioritize comfort and safety above all else. We work in close quarters, and clear communication matters. As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and violence, I (Yeti) take boundaries seriously. That’s why a third person you’re comfortable with is always present. My partner, Vanessa, typically joins us — unless you prefer to bring a friend. If you’d like to borrow one of Vanessa’s Catherine D’Lish robes or other wardrobe pieces, she’ll need to be there to assist.
If you’d like to include your partner in the session, there’s an additional $100 fee to cover the extra post‑production work. Sessions are one hour, and that hour moves fast. Lighting setups, set changes, hair, makeup, outfit swaps — they all take time. If you want a more relaxed, curated experience with more variety, adding an extra hour for $250 is a great choice.
Because this is a new branch of our business, we’re offering introductory pricing of $550, which includes the studio rental. You’ll receive at minimum 15 fully edited images delivered in your own private online gallery. Turnaround time is typically 2 weeks in winter and 3 weeks in summer, though sneak peeks are always negotiable. Before your session, we’ll schedule a 20‑minute planning call to talk through ideas and expectations.
Your privacy and well‑being are non‑negotiable. We never share images without your explicit permission. Minors are not allowed to participate — no exceptions. Your files are stored on an encrypted, offline hard drive to ensure your information stays protected. Humor is a big part of our brand, but when it comes to your safety and trust, we’re all business.
There are many talented photographers in the Twin Cities and beyond, so your trust means a great deal to us. We’ll do everything we can to earn it.
